An Act to address leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death aka Katie Brienzo's Law.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. This bill may be known as an Act to update the definition leaving the scene of an accident a/k/a Katie’s Law.

SECTION 2. Section 24 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 996 through 999, the following words:- “or by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not less than one year nor more than two and one-half years and by a fine of not less than one thousand dollars nor more than five thousand dollars”.

SECTION 3.  Section 24 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking, in line 1000, the words “one year” and inserting in place thereof the words “two and one-half years”.

SECTION 4.  Section 24 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking, in lines 1003, the words “one year” and inserting in place thereof the words “two and one-half years”.
