Section 97D of chapter 41 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the second sentence the following sentence:- "If a police officer receives a request for such access from an advocate or counselor not specifically authorized by the victim to obtain such information, the police department shall make a reasonable attempt to notify the victim."
Said section 97D, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following paragraph:-
In this section, the term "police officer" shall mean a regular police officer or a special officer appointed pursuant to section 63 of chapter 22C.
