An Act further regulating the priority of claims of cities or towns for payment of municipal liens.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 97A of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the third paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
The claim of the city or town for such amounts shall have priority over the claim of any insured owner, mortgagee, assignee or other interested party except where otherwise provided by federal law; provided, however, that the city or town, at the discretion of the collector of taxes, may exempt said company from the requirement to pay any amounts shown on the certificate of municipal liens if those amounts are attributable to betterments assessed under chapters 80 and 83.
