The committee on Senate Rules to whom was referred the House Bill relative to designation of the state public health laboratory campus in honor of Dr. Alfred DeMaria, Jr (House, No. 5063) (also based on Senate, No. 1351) reports, that the matter be placed in the Orders of the Day for the next session with an amendment striking out all after the enacting clause and inserting in place thereof the text of Senate document numbered 2975.

SECTION 1. The Massachusetts State Public Health Laboratory Campus, located in the Jamaica Plain section of the city of Boston, shall be designated and known as the Dr. Alfred DeMaria, Jr. Campus, in recognition of Doctor Alfred DeMaria, Jr., a pioneer in epidemiology and former state epidemiologist, chief infectious disease medical officer of the bureau of infectious disease and laboratory sciences, and assistant commissioner of the department of public health. The department of public health shall erect and maintain a suitable marker bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department. Nothing in this section shall be construed to modify or otherwise remove the designation of the tower building located on said Massachusetts State Public Health Laboratory Campus as the Dr. William A. Hinton Laboratory pursuant to chapter 124 of the acts of 2009, and such tower building shall remain so designated.
