An Act authorizing the select board of the town of Provincetown to establish a schedule of fines for parking violations.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding sections 20A or 20A1/2 of chapter 90 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the select board of the town of Provincetown may establish a schedule of fines for parking violations. The fines in said schedule shall not exceed $100; provided, however, that the fine for the violation of parking a motor vehicle: (i) within a posted bus stop shall be $100; (ii) within 10 feet of a fire hydrant shall be not more than $150; and (iii) in violation of handicap parking rules or regulations shall be not more than $300.

SECTION 2. The schedule of fines authorized pursuant to section 1 may provide that fines paid: (i) later than 21 days after issuance of the fine but before the parking clerk reports said fine to the registrar pursuant to sections 20A or 20A1/2 of chapter 90 of the General Laws be increased by not more than $25; and (ii) after the parking clerk reports said fine to the registrar pursuant to said sections 20A or 20A1/2 of said chapter 90 be increased by not more than $50.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
