An Act expanding health insurance access for state employees.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 5 of chapter 32A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:- 

Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the group insurance commission shall allow for a state employer to offer to a new state employee, who is eligible for health insurance benefits and opts to receive health insurance benefits provided by the group insurance commission, health insurance coverage effective as of their employment start date. The group insurance commission, in consultation with the comptroller and the executive office for administration and finance, shall promulgate regulations to enforce this section.
