An Act establishing distinctive license plates.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 2 of chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after the tenth paragraph, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, the following paragraph:-

The registrar shall furnish, at the request of an owner of a motorcycle or a motor vehicle, a license plate that bears the motto “In God We Trust.” The registrar may charge a fee directly attributable to the cost of issuance of such a design upon the initial issuance of such specialized license plates. This motto shall be made available to augment all standard and specialized license plate designs issued within the Commonwealth. There shall additionally be an annual $20 fee for such “In God We Trust” plates in addition to the established registration fee for private passenger motor vehicles and motorcycles. For the purpose of this paragraph, the word “motorcycles” shall not include motorized bicycles.
