An Act authorizing the continued service of Michael J. Harris, superintendent of the Barnstable county correctional facility.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 91 of chapter 32 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, Michael J. Harris, interim superintendent of the Barnstable County Correctional Facility, may continue to serve in this position until June 30, 2025, or the date he is relieved of his duties by the sheriff of Barnstable county, whichever occurs; provided, however, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of his office. The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office may, at its expense, require that Michael J. Harris be examined annually by a physician designated by the sheriff’s office to determine his physical and mental capability to perform the duties of his position. No further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of Michael J. Harris pursuant to chapter 32 of the General Laws.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
