An Act relative to the charter of the town of Provincetown.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1. Subsection of section 4 of chapter 5 of the charter of the town of Provincetown, as on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth in accordance with section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended as follows:-
a.Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, each town board shall consist of 5 regular members and 2 alternate members, except for the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Board, which may have up to 5 alternate members, and the finance committee, which shall have 7 regular members and 2 alternate members. New members shall not participate in a board meeting until they have been sworn in by the Town Clerk. Alternate members shall have the right in order of seniority on the board to vote at a board meeting in place of a regular member who is absent. While so designated, alternate members shall be eligible to deliberate and vote on all matters to come before their respective boards including without limitation voting on all permits and approvals within the jurisdiction of the Board under the General Laws, this Charter, and the Bylaws and Regulations of the Town, as well as all administrative matters including reorganization of the board, approval of minutes, and adjournment.
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage;
