An Act regularizing water rates for tenants.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 22 of chapter 186 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting in subsection (g) after the words “water consumption for the entire premises” the following:

“, Multiplied by each individual submeter’s applicable municipal rate determined by each submetered unit’s total individual usage.”

SECTION 2. Said section 22 of chapter 186, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting in subsection (g) after the words “shown on such bill or invoice” the following:

“The landlord shall be responsible for all additional water costs resulting from increased municipal rates due to the total water usage of the entire premises.”
