 The committee on Public Service, to whom were referred the joint petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 4698) of Donald R. Berthiaume, Jr., and Peter J. Durant relative to the retirement benefits of Dale R. Kiley, a retired state trooper; the joint petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 4742) of Aaron L. Saunders and Joanne M. Comerford (by vote of the town) that the town of Pelham be authorized to continue the employment of Gary L. Thomann as police chief in said town; the petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 4747) of Antonio F. D. Cabral relative to benefit payments by the New Bedford Police Association; the petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 4977) of Michelle L. Badger relative to a transfer of retirement benefits for Valeria D'Orazio an associate professor at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy; and the petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 5159) of Brian M. Ashe for legislation to authorize the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System to grant credible service to Sara Scibelli, reports (under the provisions of House Rule 27) recommending that the accompanying order (House, No. 5423) ought to be adopted.

 Ordered, That the committee on Public Service be authorized to sit during a recess of the General Court to make an investigation and study of House documents numbered 4698, 4742, 4747, 4977 and 5159, relative to retirement benefits, credible service and continued employment.

 Said committee shall report to the General Court the results of its investigation and study and its recommendations, if any, together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry such recommendations into effect, by filing the same with the Clerk of the House of Representatives on or before December 31, 2026.
