An Act relative to contributory retirement board elections.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 20 of chapter 32 of the General Laws is amended by inserting at the end of suddivision (4 7/8E) the following new subdivision:-

(4 7/8F) A surviving spouse who is receiving a retirement allowance from a contributory retirement system established under the provisions of sections one to twenty-eight, inclusive, shall be entitled to vote in the election of the third and fourth members serving on the board of such contributory retirement system.

SECTION 2.  Paragraph (h) of section 19 of chapter 34B is amended by

inserting at the end of the ninth sentence thereof the following words:- and surviving spouses who are receiving a retirement allowance from a contributory retirement system established under the provisions of this chapter.

SECTION 3.  Paragraph (i) of section 19A of chapter 34B is amended by inserting at the end of the ninth sentence thereof the following words:- , and surviving spouses who are receiving a retirement allowance from a contributory retirement system established under the provisions of this chapter.

SECTION 4. The provisions of this act shall take effect on January 1, 2026.
