An Act relative to accurate firearms records.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding and general or special law to the contrary, the executive office of public safety and security shall develop and implement a system to audit firearms registration records periodically to identify and remove individuals who are deceased or no longer residents of the commonwealth.
SECTION 2. The executive office of public safety and security shall develop a system for generating and sending a list of registered firearms to owners on an annual basis. The list shall include the firearm serial number, the registered owner’s information, and any other relevant registration details. Owners shall be required to review this list and provide a response confirming the accuracy of the information.
