Bill HD.5613

SECTION 1. The segment of Route 20 between mile markers 104.6 and 105.1 in the town of Oxford shall be designated and known as the Brodeur Curve, in memory of Michael and Kyle Brodeur of Charlton, who were struck head on by an impaired driver in November of 1997 at the designated location of this act. Michael Brodeur was killed and Kyle Brodeur lived with severe brain damage until his untimely passing in 2025 due to his injuries from the accident. For the decades that followed the accident, Kyle and his mother, Lisa Brodeur, became advocates to improve the safer travel of Route 20; received recognitions for dedicating themselves to the education of high school students and driver's education students on the dangers of impaired driving, which also included helping individuals who lost their driver's licenses for doing so to make better choices; provided comfort to other victims of motor vehicle accidents and their families, and shared their story to save lives and help those with brain injuries.

SECTION 2. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers on the roadway bearing such designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
