An Act exempting certain motor vehicles from displaying front number license plates.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 6 of chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after the first sentence the following sentence:-
Notwithstanding the preceding sentence, a motor vehicle that, as manufactured and delivered for sale, is not equipped with a manufacturer-provided front number plate bracket, mounting point or other means or location designated by the manufacturer for the attachment and display of a front number plate shall not be required to display a number plate on the front of the motor vehicle; provided, however, that 1 number plate furnished by the registrar shall be securely attached to the rear of the motor vehicle and the second number plate furnished by the registrar shall be carried within the motor vehicle and displayed by the operator upon the request of a law enforcement officer.
