An Act relative to prescription eyewear.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, any licensed physician or registered optometrist registered to issue written prescriptions in the Commonwealth who are issuing a prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses, shall include the patient’s pupillary distance on the script. No additional fees may be imposed for including such information on the script. The board of registration in optometry shall issue promulgations to carry out the requirements of this section.
