An Act clarifying the duties of the adjutant general.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Subsection (b) of section 15 of chapter 33 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2024 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the second paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
The adjutant general shall be charged with carrying out the policies of the commander-in-chief and shall issue orders in the commander-in-chief's name. The adjutant general shall have command of the military forces of the commonwealth.
SECTION 2. The fourth paragraph of said subsection (b) of said section 15 of said chapter 33, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- The adjutant general shall create and implement an in-service training curriculum for commanders to utilize in the training of service members under their responsibility to uphold lawful orders, which shall include, but shall not be limited to, guidance on orders that violate constitutional or statutory rights under the Uniform Code of Military Justice of the Armed Forces of the United States, 10 U.S.C. section 892.
