An Act relative to baseline concussion testing for student athletes.
 

              Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

              SECTION 1. The first paragraph of subsection (a) of section 222 of chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- The department shall also establish guidelines and regulations requiring baseline concussion testing for all high school athletes, to which all public schools, private schools and charter schools, including schools subject to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association rules and schools subject to the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council rules, shall adhere.

              SECTION 2. Said section 222 of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the word “The”, in line 25, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- In addition to the mandatory baseline concussion testing results, the

              SECTION 3. The second paragraph of subsection (c) of said section 222 of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the word "concussion", in line 44, the following:- , or becomes unconscious during a practice or competition as a result of a collision or other physical trauma to the head or body, 

              SECTION 4. The second paragraph of said subsection (c) of said section 222 of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following sentence:- Said authorization shall be based on post-concussion testing results as compared to the student’s baseline data, and shall be issued only by an above listed professional who has been trained in the administration and interpretation of baseline concussion testing.
