By Mr. Kafka of Stoughton, a petition (subject to Joint Rule 12) of Louis L. Kafka and others for legislation to require the Registry of Motor Vehicles to share information on suspended or revoked licenses with municipal police departments.  Transportation.

An Act to further the sharing of information by the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

 

              Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

              Subsection (a) of section 22 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following sentence:-

             

              Promptly following any suspension or revocation under this subsection, the registrar shall provide written notice to the police department of the municipality in which the licensee or registrant resides providing the name and address of the licensee or registrant,  the license plate number of any vehicle registered to the operator at the time of the suspension or revocation, and the reasons for the suspension or revocation, accompanied by a copy of the operator’s driving record; provided, that the registrar shall promptly notify said police department following any reissuance of the license or registration.
