An Act relative to the eligibility of ward councilors-elect to assume office notwithstanding city charter residency restriction.
 

              Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

                             SECTION 1.Any person duly elected in the City of Gardner 2011 general city election to serve as a ward councilor for any ward of the City of Gardner who, following said election, is disqualified to continue serving as a ward councilor as a result of the 2010 local re-precincting shall be permitted to continuing to serve as the ward councilor for the ward for which he or she was elected until the next general election notwithstanding any local or state law to the contrary.

                             SECTION 2.This action shall take effect upon its passage.
