Amendment #26 to H3400

Cost-Effective Long-Term Energy Contracts

[Sponsors] Representatives Jones of North Reading, Peterson of Grafton, Hill of Ipswich, Poirier of North Attleboro, and deMacedo of Plymouth move to amend the bill by inserting after SECTION XX the following sections:

“SECTION XX. Paragraph 1 of section 83 of chapter 169 of the acts of 2008 is hereby amended by inserting in the first sentence, after the words ‘cost-effective long-term contracts’ the following new words:-

‘, under which the cost of electricity shall be less than a 90% increase from the present average market price of electricity measured in cents/kWh,’

SECTION XX. Paragraph 3 of section 83 of chapter 169 of the Acts of 2008 is hereby amended by adding, after the words, ‘create additional employment in the commonwealth.’, the following new sentence:-

‘The department of public utilities shall not approve a long-term contract in which the cost of electricity under the contract is greater than a 90% increase from the present average market price of electricity measured in cents/kWh.’”.
