Amendment #363 to H3400
Audit and Sale of Surplus Land
[Sponsors] Representatives O’Connell of Taunton, Poirier of North Attleboro, Kuros of Uxbridge, Levy of Marlborough, Ross of Attleboro, and Webster of Hanson move to amend the bill by inserting after section XX the following new section:
“Section XX: Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the Inspector General shall conduct an audit of all land owned by the department of transportation, including but not limited to any land, buildings, or assets previously held by the former Massachusetts turnpike authority by no later than December 31, 2011. Any such assets deemed to be surplus will be transferred to the municipality in which the land it is situated, upon local approval of said community, or put out for competitive bid in a process to be determined by the secretary of the department of transportation by no later than April 1, 2012. Any proceeds generated from such a sale shall be deposited in the Massachusetts Transportation and Infrastructure Fund, established pursuant to section 4 of chapter 6C.”.
