Amendment #602 to H3400

An Amendment to Establish a Commission to Study State Scholarship Funding

[Sponsors] Representatives Markey of Dartmouth, Coppinger of Boston, Canessa of New Bedford, and Collins of Boston move to amend the bill by adding the following section:

 

 

SECTION 112.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, a commission shall be formed to study and make recommendations pursuant to public funds appropriated directly or indirectly to private higher education institutions.  The commission shall review all direct and indirect state funding to private higher education institutions and make recommendations regarding the Commonwealth’s ability to continue to fund these private entities.   Said commission shall be made up of five members, two appointed by the Speaker of House, two appointed by the President of the Senate, and one appointed by the Governor.  Said report shall be filed with House and Senate Ways and Means Committee by no later than December 31, 2011.
