Amendment #120 to H4100
Boards and Commissions
Mr. Scaccia of Boston moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:-
“SECTION _______. Chapter 9 of the Massachusetts General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following Section 32:
Reporting and Records of
State Boards and Commissions Membership
Section 32. (a) The office of Secretary of State is designated as the state office whose responsibility it is to record the membership of the state boards and commissions.
(b) Each state board and commission must send written notification to the Secretary of State of any appointment, election, resignation, or vacancy in the membership of its board or commission. The notification must be sent within thirty calendar days of the appointment, election, resignation, or vacancy and must include:
(1)the governing statute or Executive Order authorizing the appointment or election;
(2)the board or commission’s address, phone number, fax number, and e mail address, if any;
(3)the member’s name;
(4)the member’s district, circuit, seat, or position, if applicable;
(5)when the member’s term begins and ends;
(6)the name of the former member, if applicable;
(7)in the case of an appointment or election, whether it is a reappointment or reelection of an incumbent; and
(8) proof of oath of office.
(c) The Secretary of State may adopt necessary regulations to implement and administer this section.”
