Unemployment Protection for Cities and Towns

Mr. Bastien of Gardner moves to amend the bill by inserting after section 3 the following section:

“SECTION XX. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, if the state extends the duration of unemployment benefits available to eligible employees, the state will not charge municipalities that use a reimbursable payment model for the cost of unemployment benefits paid out by the state to the employees of such municipalities during the period of the extension.”
