UMass Medical School Crime Laboratory Quality Assurance Program

Mr. O'Day of West Boylston moves to amend the bill in Outside Section 36, in line 635 by striking out the words: “The department or the University of Massachusetts medical school shall make, free of charge,” and inserting in place thereof the words: “The department shall, free of charge, or the University of Massachusetts Medical School shall, pursuant to section 36B of General Laws chapter 75 make”; and in line 659 by striking out the words : “The director of the crime laboratory within the department shall establish procedural rules and policies governing the testing and analysis of drug samples and shall establish a quality assurance program, which shall include proficiency standards for laboratories and analysts responsible for performing drug testing and analysis.”, and inserting in place thereof the words: “The director of the crime laboratory within the department of state police shall establish procedural rules and policies governing the department’s testing and analysis of drug samples and a quality assurance program for the department, which shall include proficiency standards for its laboratories and analysts responsible for performing drug testing and analysis.”.
