An Amendment to Cut, Cap, and Save on Gas Prices
Mr. Fattman of Sutton moves to amend the bill by inserting, after SECTION XX, the following:-
“SECTION XX. Section 1 of chapter 64H of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking the definition of ‘Tax per gallon’ and inserting in place thereof the following:-
“Tax per gallon,” shall be calculated based on the average price, as determined by the commissioner, according to the following schedule:
(a)when the average price equals $0 to $2.00 per gallon, 8 cents per gallon;
(b)when the average price equals $2.01 to $3.00 per gallon, 15 cents per gallon; and
(c)when the average price equals $3.01 per gallon or more, 21 cents per gallon.
(d) when the average price equals $4.00 per gallon the tax is capped
For aviation fuel, “tax per gallon” shall mean 71/2 per cent of the average price, as determined by the commissioner, for each calendar quarter, computed to the nearest tenth of a cent per gallon; provided, however, that such tax shall not be less than 10 cents per gallon. “
