Cost Mitigation for FCC Narrowband Mandate

Representatives Durant of Spencer, Kuros of Uxbridge, Ferguson of Holden, Creedon of Brockton, Webster of Pembroke and Ross of Attleboro moves to amend the bill by inserting after item 8000-1700 the following item:

"8000-XXXX  Narrowband Grants

For matching grants to Massachusetts Municipalities to assist with costs for updating and maintaining public safety infrastructure impacted by the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) mandate that all public safety and business industrial land mobile radio systems must operate using at least 12.5 kHz efficiency technology as of January 1, 2013; provided that the department of public safety shall award the full amount of each grant to each municipality upon commitment of matching funds from such municipality……………………………….$100,000”.
