Amendment #661 to H4100
Training for Mandated Reporters, Outside Section 99, 100
Representatives Khan of Newton, Farley-Bouvier of Pittsfield, Creedon of Brockton, O'Day of West Boylston, Sannicandro of Ashland, Swan of Springfield, Walsh of Framingham, Lawn of Watertown and Andrews of Orange move to amend the bill in the OUTSIDE SECTION by inserting after OUTSIDE SECTION 98 the following sections:
"OUTSIDE SECTION 99. Chapter 18C, Section 2(d) of the General Laws is hereby amended in its last line by inserting after the word “families” the following: “; and (e) create, implement, maintain and update as needed a free, standardized online training program to be completed by all mandated reporters as defined in Chapter 119, Section 21, and as referenced in Chapter 119, Section 51A(k).
OUTSIDE SECTION 100. Chapter 119 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out section 51A(k) and inserting in place thereof the following section: “(k) A mandated reporter shall successfully complete by July 1, 2014, and every 3 years thereafter, the training referenced in Chapter 18C, Section 2(e) to recognize and report suspected child abuse and neglect. Beginning on July 1, 2014, any mandated reporter who apples for or renews a professional license shall provide evidence of successful completed of said training.”
