Amendment #664 to H4100

Child’s Annual Clothing Allowance, Rent &Transportation Allowances, Reports

Representatives Khan of Newton, Aguiar of Fall River, Cabral of New Bedford, Farley-Bouvier of Pittsfield, Hecht of Watertown, Kocot of Northampton, Provost of Somerville, Schmid of Westport, Swan of Springfield, Timilty of Milton, Turner of Dennis, Wolf of Cambridge, Lawn of Watertown, Smizik of Brookline, Sciortino of Medford, Fox of Boston and Andrews of Orange move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 4403-200, in line 28 by inserting after "further, that a” the following: "$40 per month rent allowance shall be paid to all households incurring a rent or mortgage expense and not residing in public or subsidized housing; provided further that a $40 per month transportation allowance shall be paid to reimburse recipients who incur transportation costs to participate in education, training or work activities approved by the department: provided further that”, and, in line 29, by striking out the figures “75”, and inserting in place thereof the figures “150”; and, in line 68 by inserting after “representatives” the following: “and the joint committee on children, families and persons with disabilities”, and, in the last line by inserting after the word “change” the following: “provided further, that the report shall state exactly which components of the current benefit package shall be altered, and the department’s assessment of the effects of such benefit or eligibly changes upon recipient families and the number of families affected by the benefit changes; provided further, the report shall outline all steps that the department has taken to avoid or mitigate any such benefit changes; provided further, the report shall detail the savings realized by any such changes to benefits or eligibility; and provided further, that the report shall state the department’s most accurate assessment of benefit or eligibility changes upon recipient families”.
