CULTURAL FACILITIES GRANTS I

Messrs. Tarr and Hedlund moved that the proposed new text be amended inserting, after Section ___, the following new Section:-

“SECTION ___. Subsection 42(b)(1) of chapter 23G of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after the words “Municipally owned buildings, structures or sites must be a minimum of 50,000 square feet in size, of which at least 50 per cent is used as a cultural facility” the following language: “unless a municipally owned building is 125 years old or more and significant in the history, archeology, architecture or culture of the nation, the commonwealth or a particular community, in which case it may be of any size and dedicated to any public purpose”.
