ASAP Referral
Mr. Rosenberg moved that the proposed new text be amended by inserting after Section ______, the following new Section:-
SECTION ____. All state agencies that use the Assessment for Safe and Appropriate Placement (ASAP) instrument shall 1) consult with relevant experts to revise the assessment instrument based on evidence-based practice; 2) create a process for keeping the instrument current with evolving best practice standards; and, 3) ensure that all relevant staff are informed about the ASAP and have appropriate training in how to make referrals and incorporate ASAP results into their case management and treatment planning. The Massachusetts Adolescent Sex Offender Coalition (MASOC) shall provide training staff in partnership with the department on the revised and updated ASAP Referral Form. The ASAP assessment process and the evaluation instruments will be reviewed and evaluated every five years.
