Amendment #6 to H3379

An Amendment to Establish A Special Commission Relative to License Place

Representatives Ferrante of Gloucester and Hogan of Stow moves to amend the bill by adding the following new section:-

 

 

“ Section ____.  There shall be created a special commission to evaluate the potential value to the Commonwealth in the adoption of a program under which motor vehicle license plates are auctioned or otherwise transferred for a consideration by the parties unrelated to the holders of said motor vehicle license plates.  The commission shall consist of three (3) members of the house of representatives one (1) of whom shall be appointed by the minority leader, three (3) members of the Senate, one (1) of whom shall be appointed by the minority leader, the Registrar of Motor Vehicles or a designee, the Treasurer and Receiver General or a designee, and the Commissioner of Revenue or a designee.  The commission shall be co-chaired by one member of the Senate and one member of the House subject to the designation of the presiding officer of the respective branch.

 

The study commission shall take testimony of interested parties and a report shall be filed with the Senate and House Clerk’s on or before September 16, 2013 with proposed legislation if so determined by the commission.”
