Representatives Scibak of South Hadley, Pignatelli of Lenox, Gobi of Spencer, Cariddi of North Adams, Vega of Holyoke, Puppolo of Springfield, Swan of Springfield, Humason of Westfield and Andrews of Orange moves to amend to bill, in Section 2, in Line 8000-0106 by the text contained within and replacing it with the following:-
For the operation and related costs of the state police crime laboratory, including the analysis of samples used in the prosecution of controlled substance offenses conducted at the former department of public health facilities; provided, that the analysis of narcotic drug synthetic substitutes, poisons, drugs, medicines and chemicals shall be funded in this item in order to support the law enforcement efforts of the district attorneys, the state police and municipal police departments; provided further, that the practices and procedures of the state police crime laboratory shall be informed by the recommendations of the Forensic Sciences Advisory Board; provided, that the state police shall maintain a state police crime laboratory in either Hampshire or Hampden County, and provided further, that the agency shall report to the house and senate committees on ways and means and the joint committee on public safety and homeland security not later than December 30, 2013, concerning, but not limited to, the number of cases introduced to the CODIS database, the number of confirmations attained from the CODIS database and the number of cases referred to a district attorney delineated by county
