EBT Fraud Investigations

Representatives Vieira of Falmouth, deMacedo of Plymouth and D'Emilia of Bridgewater move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 4400-1000, by adding the following, “; and provided further that notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, any funds recovered through an investigation conducted by the department of transitional assistance in relation to public benefit programs shall be disposed of by the comptroller in the following order to the extent that funds are available: (i) up to $2,000,000 shall be made available to line item 4400-1000 without further appropriation for the sole purpose of hiring additional investigators and expenses related to continued investigations to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse of public benefits and (ii) the remaining amounts to the General Fund”.
