Reports on the Issuance of Academic Credit and Licensure Qualifications for Military Service
Representatives D'Emilia of Bridgewater, Jones of North Reading, Peterson of Grafton, Hill of Ipswich, Poirier of North Attleborough, deMacedo of Plymouth, Barrows of Mansfield, Beaton of Shrewsbury, Boldyga of Southwick, Durant of Spencer, Ferguson of Holden, Frost of Auburn, Gifford of Wareham, Harrington of Groton, Howitt of Seekonk, Humason of Westfield, Hunt of Sandwich, Kuros of Uxbridge, Orrall of Lakeville, Smola of Palmer, Vieira of Falmouth and Wong of Saugus move to amend the bill by adding the following sections:—
“SECTION XX. On or before July 31, 2013, the director of professional licensure and the commissioner of public health shall file a report with the joint committee on veterans and federal affairs, and the clerks of the house and senate, regarding the implementation, establishment, and promulgation of uniform procedures for accepting education, training, and service completed by an individual as a member of the armed forces towards the qualifications required to receive a license or certification, as well as the expedited issuance of licenses and certifications, pursuant to section 1B of chapter 112 of the General Laws. The report shall detail, at minimum, the procedures established by the director and the commissioner, as well as the frequency of application for acceptance of education, training and service towards licensure and certification qualifications and the issuance of expedited licenses and certifications. The report shall also include recommendations regarding increasing awareness of these policies following from section 1B of chapter 112.
SECTION XX. On or before July 31, 2013, the council of higher education shall file a report with the joint committee on veterans and federal affairs, and the clerks of the house and senate, regarding the development and adoption of a written policies and procedures governing the evaluation of a student’s military occupation, military training, coursework and experience, to determine whether academic credit shall be awarded by each public institution of higher education for the evaluated occupation, experience, training and coursework, pursuant to section 42 of chapter 15A. The report shall detail, at minimum, the implementation, establishment, and promulgation of uniform procedures, as well as the frequency of application for academic credit by current or former members of the armed forces, as defined in clause forty-third of section 7 of chapter 4. The report shall also include recommendations regarding increasing awareness of policies following from section 42 of chapter 15A.”.
