Amendment #12 to H3492

AMENDMENT TO REDUCE COST OF HOUSING CONSTRUCTION

Representatives Winslow of Norfolk and Gifford of Wareham moves to amend the bill in section 1, in line 10, by inserting after the word “funds” the following:-

“; and further provided, that any city or town may waive any requirements of the state building code (insert legal definition of code here) to reduce the cost of housing construction or renovation, except that the provisions of the state sanitary code shall not be waived and that the final building plans are certified by a civil engineer licensed in the Commonwealth to be safe for human habitation including consideration of the conditions of weather, wind, rain and snow.  Any such engineer shall be required to possess an insurance policy insuring against professional negligence in an amount no less than $3 million”.
