Amendment #1 to H3700

An Amendment to ensure adequate funding of Reserve To Impact Towns Negatively Impacted by Shortfalls in Expenses to Educate Children of Families in the Emergency Assistance Shelter Program

Mr. Gordon moves to amend the bill by inserting the following section:-

7061-For a reserve to assist towns and cities negatively impacted by expenses for educating children assigned by the Department of Housing and Community Development to a motel or hotel within that town or city, to the extent that any such children of a family assigned to a hotel or motel within the boundaries of the town or city attends public school in that town or city. The town or city may qualify for a portion of impact aid provided by this Amendment if and only if the number of children attending public school in that town or city exceeds two-tenths of one percent of the adult population of that town or city according to the latest U.S. census.  Impact aid would be calculated as a factor of the educational budget of the town or city, reduced by the aid provided by the Commonwealth to that town or city by any other section of this Chapter 70, divided by the number of children attending public school in that town or city.   Should funds provided by this Amendment be insufficient to fund the full extent of impact aid to all qualifying towns or cities, then all such qualifying towns and cities will divide the available funds in proportion to their allowance.
