Amendment #83 to H3983

Exemption for Part Time Workers

Representatives Dooley of Norfolk, Lombardo of Billerica, Lyons of Andover and Diehl of Whitman moves to amend the bill by inserting, after SECTION 30, the following:--

“SECTION XX.  Section 1 of chapter 151 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding at the end of the first paragraph the following:—

This section shall not apply to workers working less than 30 hours per week. A wage which is lower than the minimum wage by more than 25% or less than $8.00 per hour, in any occupation, shall conclusively be presumed to be oppressive and unreasonable, unless the commissioner has expressly approved or shall expressly approve the establishment and payment of a lesser wage under the provisions of sections seven and nine.”.
