Protection of Homeless Children from places “not meant for human habitation” - Emergency Assistance
Representatives Decker of Cambridge, Benson of Lunenburg, Madden of Nantucket, Khan of Newton, Heroux of Attleboro, Cronin of Easton, Gordon of Bedford, Farley-Bouvier of Pittsfield, Sannicandro of Ashland, O'Day of West Boylston, Cabral of New Bedford, Collins of Boston, Fox of Boston, Toomey of Cambridge, Livingstone of Boston, Ashe of Longmeadow, Garballey of Arlington, Malia of Boston, Brodeur of Melrose, Linsky of Natick, Rogers of Cambridge, Cutler of Duxbury, Straus of Mattapoisett, Hecht of Watertown, Conroy of Wayland, Smizik of Brookline, Schmid of Westport and Basile of Boston move to amend the bill in item 7004-0101 in section 2 by striking out the words “(d) families who are in a housing situation where they are not the primary lease holder or who are in a housing situation not meant for human habitation and where there is a substantial health and safety risk to the family that is likely to result in significant harm should the family remain in such housing situation; provided further, that the health and safety risk shall be determined by the department of children and families through risk assessments;” and inserting in place thereof the following new words:-
(d) families who are in a housing situation where they are not the primary lease holder, or who are in or within 24 hours of being in a housing situation not meant for human habitation, and where there is or would be a substantial health and safety risk to the family that is likely to result in significant harm should the family remain in or enter such housing situation; provided further, that the health and safety risk shall be determined by the department of children and families through risk assessments;
