Increasing the penalty for refusal to stop for police
Representatives Cutler of Duxbury, Calter of Kingston and Cantwell of Marshfield move to amend the bill by adding the following section:
SECTION XXXX: Section 25 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition by adding to the end of said section 25 the following:
Any person who, while operating or in charge of a motor vehicle, when being pursued by a police officer in an official police vehicle displaying lights and siren, shall refuse or neglect to stop, shall be punished by a fine of not less than one thousand dollars nor more than ten thousand dollars and imprisonment in State Prison for not less than two and one-half years nor more than five years, or both such fine and imprisonment.
