Amendment #244 to H4000

An Amendment relative to electric vehicles in high occupancy lanes

Mr. Cutler of Duxbury moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

SECTION XXXX. Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 official edition, is hereby amended by adding the following section:-

Section XX. (a) Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, any motor vehicle designated as a battery electric vehicle (BEV), also known as an electric car, by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency or National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, shall be authorized for travel on lanes designated for use by high-occupancy vehicles.

(b) The secretary of transportation shall issue those regulations it considers necessary or appropriate to implement this act.
