Amendment #336 to H4000

Clemente Program Amendment

Representatives Koczera of New Bedford, Fox of Boston, Cabral of New Bedford, Kaufman of Lexington, Keenan of Salem, Canavan of Brockton, Schmid of Westport, Donahue of Worcester, Cronin of Easton and Keefe of Worcester move to amend the bill in section 2, line item 7100-0200, page 126, line 14 after “Fall River” the following:

 

“provided further that no less than $200,000 be allocated for the Clement Course in the Humanities, administered by the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities in partnership with the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and local social service agencies, which provide college-level humanities instruction and support service free of charge and for college credit to low income adults; provided, that the funds shall be contingent upon a match of not less than $1 in federal contributions or $1 in private or corporate contributions for every $1 in state grant funding and provided further, that all contributions be invested in a permanent endowment for the benefit of the Clemente Course in the Humanities and other humanities programs designed for low income communities in Massachusetts”, and in said item by striking out the figures “$518,755,373” and inserting in place thereof the figures “$518,955,373”.
