Nursing Home Bed Holds
Representatives Hogan of Stow, Brodeur of Melrose, Canavan of Brockton, Cusack of Braintree, Benson of Lunenburg, Decker of Cambridge, Fernandes of Milford, Gregoire of Marlborough, Dwyer of Woburn, Ferguson of Holden, Fox of Boston, Andrews of Orange, Khan of Newton, Scaccia of Boston, Cantwell of Marshfield, O'Day of West Boylston, D'Emilia of Bridgewater, Gobi of Spencer, Schmid of Westport, Farley-Bouvier of Pittsfield, Gordon of Bedford, Calter of Kingston, Peake of Provincetown, Peisch of Wellesley, Smizik of Brookline, Ayers of Quincy, Kafka of Stoughton and Poirier of North Attleborough move to amend the bill in Section 2, in item 4000-0640, in line 12, by inserting after the words “the acts of 1996” the following:
“provided further, that funds shall be expended in an amount not less than that appropriated in fiscal year 2014 for purposes of reimbursing nursing facilities for up to and including 10 calendar days per medical event. The division shall reimburse the nursing facility for the medical leave of absence, which shall include an observation stay in a hospital in excess of twenty-four hours, at the recipients’ pre-absence rate during the medical leave and upon the residents return. In the event that a nursing facility resident who is a MassHealth recipient leaves the nursing facility for non-medical reasons, the division shall pay to preserve his or her bed in the facility for a period of up to and including 15 days per year;”
