Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Representatives Mark of Peru, Andrews of Orange, Arciero of Westford, Ashe of Longmeadow, Brodeur of Melrose, Conroy of Wayland, Fiola of Fall River, deMacedo of Plymouth, Farley-Bouvier of Pittsfield, Basile of Boston, Schmid of Westport, Cullinane of Boston, Khan of Newton, Vega of Holyoke, Gobi of Spencer, Scibak of South Hadley, Sannicandro of Ashland, Silvia of Fall River, Speliotis of Danvers, Smizik of Brookline, Cariddi of North Adams, Frost of Auburn, Garlick of Needham, Garballey of Arlington, Chan of Quincy, Timilty of Milton and Collins of Boston move to amend the bill in section 2 by inserting after item 7004-0108 the following item:

"7004-1000. For the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program 42 U.S.C. section 8621 et seq., to assist low-income elders, working families and other households with the purchase of heating oil, propane, natural gas, electricity and other primary or secondary heating sources; provided, further, that the department shall allocate a reasonable portion of said funds for administrative costs, as consistent with said state plan; provided, that expenditure of these funds shall be made in accordance with the state plan submitted by the department of housing and community development for operation of the fiscal year 2015 program, in accordance with federal law...................................... $20,000,000"
