Regulation of Prescription Opiates

Representatives Cutler of Duxbury, Cantwell of Marshfield, DiZoglio of Methuen, Barrows of Mansfield, Smizik of Brookline, Pignatelli of Lenox, Timilty of Milton, Ferguson of Holden, Calter of Kingston, Silvia of Fall River, Farley-Bouvier of Pittsfield, Andrews of Orange, Livingstone of Boston, deMacedo of Plymouth, Garry of Dracut, Arciero of Westford, Zlotnik of Gardner, Khan of Newton, McMurtry of Dedham, Nyman of Hanover, Cronin of Easton, Howitt of Seekonk, Gifford of Wareham and Golden of Lowell move to amend the bill by striking out section 78 and inserting in place thereof the following section:

 

SECTION 78. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the commissioner of public health shall promulgate regulations, consistent with federal law, to limit the distribution of Schedule II opioid controlled substances that have no abuse-deterrent properties. These regulations shall include, but not be limited to, establishing limitations on the dispensing of such controlled substances.
