Amendment #988 to H4000

Representatives Garballey of Arlington, Gordon of Bedford, Khan of Newton, McMurtry of Dedham and O'Day of West Boylston move to amend the bill in section 2, in line item 4800-0040, by striking out the figure “$44,610,551” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- “$51,000,000”; and further by inserting at the end thereof the following: “;provided that not less than $1,000,000 be expended on a pilot program to increase the frequency and improve the effectiveness of interactions between birth parents and their children who are in the custody of the department and have reunification as a permanency planning goal; and provided further that the department shall submit a plan to the clerks of the house of representatives and senate, the joint committee on children, families and persons with disabilities, and the house and senate committees on ways and means by November 1, 2014, describing how these pilot funds will be expended”.
