Motor Vehicle License Suspensions

Representatives Malia of Boston, Conroy of Wayland, O'Day of West Boylston, Keefe of Worcester, Holmes of Boston, Ashe of Longmeadow, Chan of Quincy, Atkins of Concord, Cronin of Easton, Livingstone of Boston, Vega of Holyoke, Rogers of Cambridge, Mirra of West Newbury, Heroux of Attleboro, Mahoney of Worcester, Andrews of Orange, Fox of Boston, Donahue of Worcester, Smizik of Brookline, Sannicandro of Ashland, Provost of Somerville, Benson of Lunenburg, Carvalho, Hunt of Sandwich, Farley-Bouvier of Pittsfield, Hunt of Boston, Hecht of Watertown, Lawn of Watertown, Kaufman of Lexington, Khan of Newton, Durant of Spencer, Garballey of Arlington and Devers of Lawrence moves to amend the bill by adding the following new sections:

SECTION XX.  Subsection (f) of section 22 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby repealed.

SECTION XX.  The registrar of motor vehicles shall purge all records pertaining to past motor vehicle license suspensions effected under subsection (f) of section 22 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws.

SECTION XX. Section 30 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding, after the second paragraph, the following paragraph: - Upon expiration of the term of suspension of driving privileges suspended under subsections (g), (h), or (i), of Section 22 of Chapter 90, the registrar shall shield from public access all records of the suspension and the underlying offense, including records of the expiration of the suspension, any hearings or appeals related to the suspension, and the reinstatement following the suspension.
