Health Connector Cost Study

Mr. Tarr moves to amend the bill by inserting after Section 3 the following new section:-

“SECTION ____. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the Inspector General of the Commonwealth shall conduct a review of the financial impact of the failure of the health connector website following the implementation of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and total funds that have been expended to create an exchange compliant with the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The review shall also include a cost analysis of state funds expended for temporary coverage, including those funds that would have been reimbursed by the federal government had the Connector website been properly functioning. The Inspector General shall submit said report to the clerks of the House and Senate and the House and Senate committees on ways and means no later than July 31, 2014. Furthermore, the Inspector General shall submit findings of any violation of state or federal laws to the Attorney General of Massachusetts and to the Office of the United States Attorney in the District of Massachusetts.”
