Amendment #7 to H4226

Closing Off Year Filing Loophole

Mr. Cabral of New Bedford moves to amend the bill by adding the following sections:

 

SECTION XX.  Section 18 of chapter 55 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting in line 39 after the word “caucus” the following:- “regardless of whether the candidate is opposed in the preliminary or primary election or caucus,”

 

SECTION XX.  Section 18 of chapter 55 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting in line 44 after the word “caucus”:- “or special city or town preliminary, regardless of whether the candidate is opposed in the preliminary or primary election or caucus,”

 

SECTION XX. Said section 18 of chapter 55 of the general laws, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting, after the word “year”, in line 116, the following:

 

and any candidates and a committee organized on behalf of candidates seeking public office at a municipal level that files with the director, shall file midyear reports on or before the twentieth day of July in each year that such  municipality does not have an election.

SECTION XX. Section 18C of chapter 55 of the general laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby further amended by striking out the following words, in lines 39-40: “for mayor”.
